The flow of emails from when a user first gives their email address to the Daily Beast to when they become a subscriber needed a total overhaul. Starting essentially from scratch, we looked at subscriber flows from various publishers, collecting data on overall trends. The results? Light visuals, text-focused, and buttons in headers. I took these trends and infused signature Daily Beast visuals, like the red button and yellow text highlight, adding new elements like Helvetica type and a warm beige header to make the new emails feel modern and friendly. These styles have become the guiding templates for all Daily Beast Marketing communications, visually unifying our Marketing messaging.
